LOWELL, Mass. - The Lowell Devils, American Hockey League affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, announced their 2007-08 regular season schedule today. The Devils will open their second season in the AHL on the road against the Portland Pirates on October 6th.
The Devils first home game of the season will be Saturday, October 13th at 7:05 p.m. when they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Overall, Lowell will host 40 regular season games at Tsongas Arena, of which 26 fall on the weekend (Friday, Saturday or Sunday).
The majority of games (58 out of 80 total games) will come against other Atlantic Division rivals Hartford (4 home/4 road), Manchester (5/5), Portland (5/5), Providence (5/5), Springfield (5/5) and Worcester (5/5). The Devils also play outside the division against Albany (2/2), Bridgeport (3/3), Hershey (1/1), Norfolk (2/2), Philadelphia (2/2) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (1/1). This will be the first meeting between the Devils and WBS Penguins.
Games played Monday through Saturday start at 7:05 p.m., with the exception of two Saturday matinees: October 27th against Providence and February 16th against Manchester (2:05 p.m.). The longest home stand of the season comes in November, when the Devils host four teams from November 17 - 23. The longest road trip is from March 19 - 23, when the Devils visit four cities in five nights.
In addition to the regular season schedule, Tsongas Arena will also host an NHL game for the second straight season, as the New Jersey Devils will meet the New York Islanders on Wednesday, September 26th at 7:00 p.m. Full season ticket holders will receive this NHL game in their ticket packages, while partial plans will receive a discounted rate.
