Syracuse Crunch Announce 2007-08 Schedule

Syracuse, NY (August 7, 2007)--The Syracuse Crunch announced today their schedule for the 2007-08 American Hockey League season.

The Crunch will open their 14th season on Friday, October 5 against the Rochester Americans at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. It is the fourth time in the Crunch's fourteen-year history that they will start the season on the road (2000-01, 2003-04 & 2006-07). The Crunch opens up at home on Saturday, October 13 when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack at the War Memorial at Oncenter.

The 40-game home schedule includes 35 weekend games, with 31 of those dates being played on either a Friday or Saturday. Saturday is the busiest night for the Crunch at home, as they will play 18 games. The Crunch also has 13 games on Friday, 4 on Sunday, 3 on Wednesday, and 1 each on Monday and Thursday.

The Crunch will play 44 games against their North Division foes (Rochester 12, Hamilton 8, Lake Erie 8, Toronto 8, Manitoba 4, Grand Rapids 2). In addition, the Crunch will face the West Division in 8 games (two games each versus Chicago, Houston, Rockford, and San Antonio). Syracuse also has 26 contests against the East Division (Albany 8, Binghamton 8, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 8, Philadelphia 2). The Crunch will also play two games against the Atlantic Division Hartford Wolf Pack.

The Crunch plays 12 games in October, 9 in November, 16 in December, 11 in January, 12 in February, 13 in March and 7 in April. Syracuse plays 11 home games in March, the most of any month.

The longest home stand of the season is 10 games (March 14 to April 2), totaling 21 days. The longest road trip of the season is seven games, starting on December 2 in Lake Erie and ending twelve days later on December 14 in Binghamton. The Crunch will play three games in three nights six times this season, down from 10 last season.

Notable games include hosting the defending Calder Cup champion Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday, October 19, the first visit by the Crunch's arch rival Rochester Americans on Saturday, October 27, and the first ever visits to the War Memorial at Oncenter from the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday, October 20 and Rockford Ice Hogs on Saturday, November 17.
