Admirals Release 2007-08 Schedule

NORFOLK - Today, the Norfolk Admirals announced their 2007-08 regular season schedule. The Admirals will open their eighth season of American Hockey League action and first season as the top affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 5 at Philadelphia.

Following four road contests to start the season, the Admirals will kick off the first of 40 home contests at Norfolk Scope Arena on Friday, October 19, against the Binghamton Senators.

"I am very happy with the schedule that the Admirals have received this season," said Admirals Vice President Mark Bernard. "From both an organization's point of view and a fan's point of view, it is a very favorable schedule with only eight weekday games on the docket. We play a lot of home games in January and February, which are always big months for the Admirals. The schedule will help us to continue to move forward with our goals for this organization."

Twenty-six of Norfolk's 40 home games will be played after the turn of the calendar year. The regular season home slate features seven Wednesday, one Thursday, 17 Friday and 15 Saturday games at Scope. All home games will start at 7:15 p.m.

The schedule features home games on each Friday and Saturday in January. The Admirals will also enjoy an eight-game homestand from March 14 to 28 - the second-longest stretch of home games in Norfolk's AHL history.

The Admirals will have a season-high stretch of nine road games in 15 games in late February and early March.

Fan Appreciation Night will occur in the Admirals' final regular season home game on Saturday, April 5, against the Albany River Rats. The 2007-08 regular season will conclude in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton against the Penguins on Saturday, April 12.

The Admirals will release their promotional schedule as the season approaches.

Yesterday, the Admirals announced that they will play preseason matches on September 29 and 30 against the Hershey Bears and Philadelphia Phantoms, respectively. Both contests will be played on the road. The Admirals will continue the traditional intra-squad scrimmage this season with details to be released at a later date.
