Story Ideas
Tuomas Pihlman - The left wing made his season debut in New Jersey last week and is off to a much better start than last year. The third year pro has been an assist captain for the last two seasons and figures prominently in future Devil plans. David Hale - One of the first new hockey world casualties, Hale is NHL ready and is one of the top performers on the Rats blueline. He has scored some highlight reel goals and provides more than solid defensive work.
Rat Bites:
RW Cam Janssen was recalled by the New Jersey Devils on Saturday and made his NHL debut in the Devils' 3-2 shootout loss at Madison Square Garden. C Nicklas Bergfors picked up two assists in three games last week and is now tied for the team lead with five assists in seven games during the 2005-06 campaign. C Pascal Rheaume scored his 29th power play goal as a member of the River Rats on Saturday, giving him 242 (109-133) points in an Albany uniform. He is now tied for second with LW Jiri Bicek with that total behind only C Steve Brule's 369 points. D Krisjanis Redlihs' goal on Wednesday night was his first since he became just the second River Rat defenseman to record a hat trick on March 3, 2004. The penalty shot called against the River Rats on Friday night versus the Wolf*pack marked the first time since January 16, 1998 that Albany faced a penalty shot at Pepsi Arena. G Frank Doyle turned aside Alexandre Giroux's chance.
