
Blackhawks acquire Andy Hilbert

General Manager Dale Tallon announced tonight that the Chicago Blackhawks have acquired forward Andy Hilbert from the Boston Bruins in exchange for the Blackhawks' 5th round pick in the 2006 entry draft.
Hilbert, 24, stands at 5.11 and weighs in at 194 pounds. A native of Lansing Michigan, he was Boston's 2nd round pick in the 2000 NHL entry draft out of the University of Michigan in the CCHA. Hilbert was a CCHA First Team All-Star in 2001 and was named to the NCAA West First All-American Team that same year.
Last season for Providence in the American Hockey League, Hilbert appeared in 79 games scoring 37 goals and adding 42 assists for 79 points with 83 penalty minutes. He also played in 17 playoff games for Providence and posted 21 points on 7 goals and 14 assists. He was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2002 and was a Second Team AHL All-Star in 2005.
Hilbert has appeared in 38 National Hockey League games, all as a member of the Boston Bruins. In those games he has scored 3 goals while adding 3 assists for 6 points with 18 penalty minutes.
A restricted free agent, Hilbert has not yet played this season.
