Flashback

11/01/05 Cleveland 3, Hershey 2 (SO)

Jamie Holden turned aside 35 Hershey shots on Tuesday night to earn his first AHL victory in a 3-2 shootout decision. Josh Hennessy scored the game-winner in the Barons first shootout game of the year. Following a scoreless first, Mike Iggulden scored the first tally of the game on a helper from Shane Joseph 12:13 into the second period. A little over five minutes later, Hershey evened the score up with a goal from Captain Boyd Kane. Patrick Rissmiller gave the Barons a 2-1 lead with his third goal of the season at 8:33 of the third period. But the Bears converted on their eighth power play attempt to tie the game at 2. The teams finished the extra session tied and the game went to a shoot-out. Hennessy scored the only breakaway to win the game for the Barons.

11/04/05 Cleveland 4, Rochester 2

Jamie Holden backstopped the Barons to their second consecutive win by allowing just two goals and Patrick Rissmiller scored the game-winning goal in a 4-2 final. The Amerks opened up scoring with a shorthanded goal by Michael Ryan at the 4:39 mark of the first. Exactly fifteen minutes later, the Amerks extended their lead to 2-0 as Mark Mancari scored his first professional goal. The Barons battled back in the second, as Mike Iggulden scored his fourth professional goal on a deflection to start the comeback effort. The period's final goal came from Garrett Stafford, who scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Shane Joseph and Josh Prudden. Patrick Rissmiller tipped a shot from Ray DiLauro for the game-winner just 1:19 into the third and Grant Stevenson secured the victory with a late empty-net goal.

11/06/05 Cleveland 4, Syracuse 1

Patrick Rissmiller registered a three point night and Jamie Holden turned aside 35 shots for a 4-1 win over the Crunch. Goeff Platt opened up scoring for Syracuse just after the three minute mark. The Barons answered late in the frame with a power play strike from Grant Stevenson, his fourth goal of the year. Garrett Stafford wristed home his second goal in as many games to bring the Barons lead to 2-1 through two periods of play. Rissmiller scored his goal at even strength and Mike Iggulden completed scoring with a power play goal to end the game 4-1.

Coming Up

11/11/05 Cleveland @ Hamilton - Copps Coliseum

The Barons look for their second victory in as many tries at Copps Coliseum on Friday night as they take on the Hamilton Bulldogs. The last time these two teams met, Dimitri Patzold stopped 36 shots in the 3-2 victory, which brought his record up to 4-4-0 lifetime against Hamilton. The Barons are 13-21-3-0 all-time against Hamilton. Patrick Rissmiller paces the team in scoring against the Bulldogs, with 16 points (9-7-16).

11/12/05 Cleveland vs. Manitoba - National City Rink at The Q

The Barons will host the Moose in the third meeting between the teams. Cleveland is 0-2-0-0 against the Moose this season and 5-10-1-0. The Barons will be looking for their first victory against the Moose in six games, dating back to last season. Manitoba's Wade Flaherty is a perfect 4-0-0 in his career against the Barons, with a 1.16 goals-against-average and a .952 saves percentage.

11/13/05 Cleveland vs. Rochester - National City Rink at The Q

The Barons face off against the Amerks for the fourth of eight games this season. Cleveland is 1-2-0-0 against Rochester, following their 4-2 victory on Friday at Blue Cross Arena. Grant Stevenson has found success against the Amerks. He has 15 points (9-8-15) in 14 lifetime appearances against Rochester. Last time the two teams met, both teams played without their leading scorers. Rochester was without Jason Pominville and Derek Roy, who had been recalled by Buffalo. Pominville has since been reassigned to Rochester. He leads the Americans with 10 goals and is second in scoring with 14 points. Cleveland played without Steve Bernier, who had been recalled by the San Jose Sharks.

Barons Player of the Week

The Cleveland Barons Player of the Week is Jamie Holden. Holden started in all three of the Barons victories this week, including the Barons shoot-out victory over Hershey. Holden stopped 100 of the 105 shots he faced in the games this week, earning a .952 saves percentage and 1.62 goals-against average. He was selected as first star in two of the three games and as second star for the third game of the week.

Making His Presence Known

Mike Iggulden has recorded points (5-4-9) in seven of his last eight games, including goals in his past three games. The rookie center is third on the team in scoring with nine points (5-4-9) in 10 games. He paces the team in power play goals (3) and shooting percentage (29.4) and is tied for tops on the team with five goals.

Absolutely Risserable

Left wing Patrick Rissmiller has recorded goals in his past three games and all 10 of his points have come in his past eight games. He is currently tied for team lead in scoring with 10 points (5-5-10) and goals (5) in 11 games this season. He now trails Miroslav Zalesak for the franchise goal mark by 31 and the all-time point lead by 27.

In The Show

Steve Bernier received the call to join fellow Baron Nolan Schaefer with the San Jose Sharks. Bernier made his NHL debut Saturday in the Sharks game against the Minnesota Wild. Schaefer has earned a 5-1-0 record in his time with the Sharks.
