Adirondack Phantoms News Release
WEEK IN REVIEW
Friday, Nov. 4 - Hershey 2, Phantoms 1: The Philadelphia Phantoms raised their championship banners to the Wachovia Spectrum rafters and honored their former captain, but they couldn't quite come up with a happy ending to the evening in a 2-1 loss to the Hershey Bears. After the teams played a scoreless first period, Triston Grant started out the scoring for the Phantoms when he got the rebound of his own shot and blasted it home for his first professional goal. Hershey tied it with a goal at 7:52 of the period, and then secured the eventual game winner at 7:08 of the third period. The loss snapped a Phantoms five-game winning streak against Hershey.
Saturday, Nov. 5 - Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4, Phantoms 1: The spirit of the rivalry between the Phantoms and the Penguins didn't take long to show its colors. In fact, it didn't even require a faceoff, as the two clubs threatened a brawl with a center ice ballyhoo during warm-ups. After all was said and done, the Penguins took a 4-1 win. Daniel Carcillo, Matt Hussey, Noah Welch and Stephen Dixon had the markers for the Penguins, while Alexandre Picard was responsible for the Phantoms goal.
Sunday, Nov. 6 - Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5, Phantoms 4 (SO): Sixty-five minutes of hockey and nine rounds of a shootout with the Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Penguins couldn't even turn the tide, as the Pens snuck out of the Wachovia Spectrum with a 5-4 shootout win on Sunday night in the back half of the home-and-home series. Pat Kavanagh collected the first goal of the game and the only one in the first period, as the Phantoms subdued power play came to life to take a 1-0 lead. After a disputed Penguins goal to open up the second, captain John Slaney gave the Phantoms their lead back at 6:56. B.J. Abel then made good at 9:10 with a shorthanded tally, but the Pens roared back with a pair before the period came to a close from Daniel Carcillo and Tomas Surovy. Kavanagh scored again to tie it. Matt Hussey gave the Penguins a 4-3 lead late in the third, but Kavanagh came right back with his second of the night to tie the game. The shootout went to nine rounds, with Hussey grabbing the winning goal.

Binghamton is also having a rocky start to the season - the Senators enter the week 1-6-1-1 for 4 points, putting them sixth in the East Division.
