Rampage strike down Aeros, 3-1

San Antonio Rampage News Release

HOUSTON - Two early goals were all Josh Tordjman needed as the San Antonio Rampage held off the Houston Aeros for a 3-1 victory Friday night at the Toyota Center.

Tordjman made 25 of 26 saves and denied a penalty shot with the Rampage up a goal in the final period to help move San Antonio (24-13-3-4) a franchise-record 11 games over the .500 mark.

With the Rampage leading 2-1, Tordjman and his team were faced with a tense moment as Steve Kelly began the approach on his penalty shot. Tordjman withstood the pressure, stoning Kelly at 6:57 of the third period to keep the lead intact and ultimately save the game.

Coming in, the Rampage had only two goals in their first three games in Houston, but they matched that in the first period alone.

The Rampage struck first with a milestone marker from center Joey Tenute - the 100th goal of his professional career - 10:10 into the opening frame. The goal was his team-leading 18th of the season.

Less than a minute later the Rampage would strike again. David Spina made a leaping grab of the still-airborne puck and passed it rink-wide to Enver Lisin, who sped down the left wing for his 14th goal of the season and a Rampage a 2-0 lead. Lisin's goal came just 55 seconds after Tenute's score.

Houston captain Erik Reitz cut the lead in half late in the period with his eighth tally of the season.

Bill Thomas matched Lisin with his 14th goal of the season as insurance to seal the game, 3-1, at 19:38.

The Rampage have begun their 14-game Rodeo Road Trip earning five of six possible points, going 2-0-1-0, and will play part deux of the weekend-set with Houston Saturday at 7:35 p.m.
