
San Jose Sharks Assign Four Players To Worcester

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has assigned right wing Devin Setoguchi, center Tomas Plihal, goaltender Thomas Greiss and defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic to the Worcester Sharks, the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Setoguchi has split time between San Jose and Worcester this season. In 27 games with the Sharks, he has posted 11 points (nine goals, two assists) and in 12 games with Worcester, he has nine points (one goal, eight assists). He was originally drafted by San Jose in the first round (8th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Plihal was recalled to San Jose for the first time this season on Jan. 20. He made his season debut on Jan. 22 against the Chicago Blackhawks and is a +1 in two games. In 20 games with Worcester, he has 11 points (five goals, six assists) and was second on the team with a +4. He was originally drafted by San Jose in the fifth round (140th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Greiss was recalled to San Jose on Jan. 8. He made his NHL debut on Jan. 13 at Anaheim, making 25 saves in an overtime loss. With Worcester, he has posted a 12-10-1 record, along with a 3.03 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage. He was originally drafted by San Jose in the third round (94th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Vlasic is in his second season with San Jose. This year, he has posted five points (five assists) while playing in all of the Sharks 49 games. He was originally drafted by San Jose in the second round (35th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The Sharks travel to Hartford on Friday and to Springfield on Saturday. After another road game at Philadelphia, the Sharks return to the DCU Center to face the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday, February 2 at 7:05 p.m. with the first 3,000 fans in attendance receiving a hand-signed Graham Mink Collector's Card. Fans are encouraged to come to the arena early, as Saint John's and Saint Peter-Marian will square off in the First Annual High School Hockey Classic with a 4:00 p.m. contest prior to the Sharks vs. the Monarchs.
