Marlies Recall Three Players From Columbia

Mike Penny, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced Friday that defenceman Reid Cashman has been reassigned to the club from the Columbia Inferno. In addition, the Marlies have recalled defenceman Patrick Wellar and forward Tyler Doig from Columbia.

Reid Cashman, a 6'2, 205-pound native of Red Wing, Minnesota, has appeared in three games this season for the Toronto Marlies, recording two assists and a plus-one rating. In 21 games with the Columbia Inferno, Cashman has registered 10 points (one goal, nine assists) and 14 penalty minutes.

Tyler Doig, a native of Seaforth, Ontario, has skated in 38 games for Columbia, recording 29 points (seven goals, 22 assists) and a plus-six rating. The 6'0, 180-pound forward is tied for third on the Inferno in points this season and second in assists. Doig played in the ECHL's All-Star Game on January 23, 2008 and registered an assist for the American Conference.

Patrick Wellar, a 6'3, 210-pound native of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, has appeared in two games for the Toronto Marlies this season. Wellar was held scoreless in both games and registered two penalty minutes with the Marlies. He has skated in 36 games for the Inferno this season and leads all defenceman on Columbia with 21 points (six goals, 15 assists). He ranks third on the Inferno with a plus-eight rating and is second with 63 penalty minutes.

The Marlies finish their eight-game road trip this evening against the Binghamton Senators - AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators - at the Utica Memorial Auditorium with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Marlies will return home to Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday, January 26 to host the Quad City Flames - AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames - for a 4:00 p.m. match-up.
