Chicago Wolves News Release

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned forwards BRETT STERLING and COLIN STUART and defenseman JOEL KWIATKOWSKI (KWEE-at-KOW-skee) to the Chicago Wolves. All three players will be available when the Wolves face off against the Rockford IceHogs in a battle between the top two squads in the West Division at the Rockford MetroCentre on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

STERLING has appeared in 11 games with Atlanta this season during his National Hockey League debut, posting three points (2G, A) and 12 penalty minutes, which includes being held scoreless in last night's 2-1 shootout loss against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The 23-year-old forward, who was recalled by Atlanta for his second NHL stint on Wednesday, leads the Wolves and is tied for third in the American Hockey League with 22 goals and shares third on Chicago with 38 points in 34 games this year.

The 2007 AHL Rookie of the Year, STERLING was selected to the starting lineup for the PlanetUSA All-Star team in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic in Binghamton, N.Y., which begins with the skills competition on Sunday.

KWIATKOWSKI posted an assist in three games with Atlanta after being recalled on Jan. 19, which includes being held of the scoresheet last night. A veteran of 267 NHL games (16G, 25A), the 30-year-old leads American Hockey League defensemen with 12 goals and shares fifth on the Wolves with 32 points in 40 matchups this season. The Kindersley, Saskatchewan, native will skate for the Canadian Team in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic, joining STERLING and JASON KROG, as the third Wolves player that is scheduled to participate.

STUART, who was recalled to the NHL for the first time in his career on Dec. 28, 2007, notched three goals and five points in 14 games with Atlanta. The Oak Park native, who was held without a point in the Thrashers' shootout loss last night, dished out an assist and recorded a +2 plus/minus rating in his NHL debut on Dec. 29 against the Boston Bruins. The 25-year-old forward has skated in 30 games with the Wolves this season, netting three goals, six points and 18 penalty minutes prior to his recall.
