Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have assigned forwards Ted Purcell and Matt Moulson to the Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Purcell, 23, has played in five games with the Kings this season and has one assist, his first career NHL point. He's played in 40 games with the Monarchs this season, recording team highs of 53 points and 39 assists (14-39=53). Purcell's 53 points and 39 assists both rank third in the AHL (first among rookies). He was selected as the AHL Rookie of the Month in November and named a starter for the Canadian AHL All-Star Team. Purcell, a former standout at the University of Maine (he helped the Black Bears advance to the 2007 Frozen Four), is a 6-foot-3, 177-pound native of St. John's, Newfoundland. He was originally signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on April 27, 2007.
Moulson, 24, has played in 14 games with the Kings this season and has five points (3-2=5) and two penalty minutes. With the Monarchs, he has played in 29 games this season and has 31 points (16-15=31) and 13 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Moulson, who was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the ninth-round (263rd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on September 1, 2006. He is a native of North York, Ontario.
The Monarchs stay at home for their next game on Friday, January 25 against the Lowell Devils with a 7:05 P.M start time at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
