MANCHESTER, N.H. - Goaltender Danny Taylor registered 32 saves for his third shutout in as many starts as the Manchester Monarchs defeated the Lowell Devils, 4-0, on Friday at the Verizon Wireless Arena. It was one week ago tonight that Taylor's shutout streak began and has now reached 185:41. The rookie goaltender would get more than enough offense from his team as Manchester gathered its first win versus Lowell this season.

The Monarchs got the first goal of the contest at 11:06 of the opening period when Gabe Gauthier tipped Scott Parse's point shot into the top left corner of the net. After a scoreless second period, Gauthier notched his second of the night to give Manchester a 2-0 cushion at 8:50 of the third. Jordan Parise was able to make the initial save on Troy Milam's slapper from the blueline, but Gauthier squeaked the rebound inside the near post and skate of Parise.

Lowell looked to cut into Manchester's lead with a power play late in the final frame, but Brian Boyle put the contest out of reach on an unassisted shorthanded marker with 3:22 left in regulation. Lauri Tukonen completed the scoring during the final seconds of the game, wristing the puck past Parise from the far circle.

The Devils finished 0-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill. Parise stopped 25 of the 29 shots he faced as Lowell's winless streak stretched to six games.

The Lowell Devils are on the road for their final game before All-Star Weekend, taking on the Portland Pirates on Saturday, January 26 at 7:05 p.m. The Devils will be back at home on Saturday, February 2 to battle the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m. Tickets start at just $10; call the Devils office at (978) 458-PUCK for more information or visit www.lowelldevilshockey.com. The 2008 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Reebok will take place at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton, N.Y. The event will begin with the 2008 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition on January 27, and conclude with the 2008 AHL All-Star Game on January 28.
