Providence, RI (February 13, 2009) - Kyle Turris posted two goals while David Spina recorded four assists in the Rampage's 5-1 victory over the Providence Bruins Friday night at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
Kevin Porter put the Rampage on the board first when he caught a rebound off the shot of Spina for a 1-0 lead at the 9:18 mark in the opening frame. Turris and Spina were credited with the helpers.
The Rampage doubled the score when Simon Ferguson backhanded a shot from the slot and tallied his second goal of the season 29 seconds later for a 2-0 lead with help from Garth Murrary and Sean Sullivan which later proved to be the game-winner.
Turris, who joined the joined the Rampage yesterday after spending 50 games with the Phoenix Coyotes this season, recorded his first AHL goal at the 13:05 mark of the second period. Spina and Derek Nesbitt were credited with the assists.
Alexander NIkulin extended the Rampage lead to 4-0 with a shot from the bottom left circle into the five hole of Tuukka Rask at the 2:03 mark in the final frame. The helpers were credited to Jeff May and Spina, his third of the night.
Providence reacted with a Peter Schaefer redirect in front of the net off the shot of Adam McQuaid at the 3:55 mark to put the Bruins on the board 4-1.
Turris tallied his second goal of the night when he redirected May's shot going top shelf against Rask at the 15:29 mark in the third period. Spina picked up his fourth assist of the night and is currently on a five-game pointstreak (2-7-9).
Rampage goaltender Josh Tordjman, named the AHL's January Goaltender of the Month, stopped 25 of 26 shots and has gone 20-8-1 since December 1st.
The Rampage are now 2-2-2-1 on their 13-game road trip. They end their tour of the Northeast and head to the Midwest tomorrow to face the Quad City Flames at 7:05 p.m. at I Wireless Arena.
