BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers scored two power play goals in quick succession in the second period and cruised to a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday night at the Arena at Harbor Yard.

The Sound Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 3:42 left in the first period. Mitch Fritz was to the left of the net and threw a short-angle shot that Scott Munroe stopped, but the puck then wriggled past him into the crease. Tomas Marcinko swooped in and pushed the puck over the goal line to give Bridgeport the advantage at the first intermission.

Philadelphia found itself in penalty trouble in the early part of the third period and Bridgeport took advantage with two power-play goals. The Phantoms had three minors called on them at one time, and Chris Lee capitalized on the ensuing five-on-three with a wrister from the right circle 3:01 into the period. Then, during the following lengthy 5-on-4, Kurtis McLean jammed one in from down low on the left side at 6:09, giving the Tigers a 3-0 second intermission advantage.

The Phantoms got on the board with a power play goal in the third period. Patrick Maroon was in the right-wing corner and threaded a pass through to Danny Syvret in the left circle, who fired it past Tobias Stephan with 8:31 left. But the Phantoms couldn't score any further, and Mark Wotton iced the game with an empty netter with 1:09 remaining.

Munroe absorbed the loss with 24 saves, while Stephan went to 3-0 with 21 stops.

The Phantoms will wrap up this three-game road trip with another critical East Division matchup on Saturday night at Binghamton. They'll return to Philadelphia on Monday to host the Hamilton Bulldogs in a special 5:05 President's Day start at the Wachovia Center. Adult tickets are just $10 and kids tickets just $5 for the remainder of the 2008-09 season. Tickets are available through ComcastTIX at 1-800-298-4200, at the Wachovia Complex box office or online at Phantomshockey.com.
