In Wednesday's AHL action, Michael Grabner netted two goals as Manitoba doubled up Hartford, 4-2... Teddy Purcell scored twice and added an assist to lead Manchester over Springfield, 5-2... Janis Sprukts tallied a pair of goals to help Rochester edge Chicago, 4-3... Rookie Nick Dodge posted his second straight two-goal effort to lead Albany to its fourth straight win, 4-2 at Binghamton... Goaltender Antti Niemi pitched a 21-save shutout as Rockford ended its seven-game road swing with a 1-0 win at Peoria.

LOOKING AHEAD:

Houston and Iowa are set to clash for a two-game set at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines beginning on Friday... The Chops enter with a two-point lead on Houston for third place in the West Division... Eric Boguniecki scored Iowa's lone goal in a 4-1 loss to Rochester on Tuesday, which snapped the Chops' three-game winning streak... Petteri Wirtanen has a four-game scoring streak (4-2-6) for the Chops, and T.J. Trevelyan shows 11 points (6-5-11) in his last 11 contests... Houston has been idle since a 6-3 victory at Chicago on Sunday and is trying to capture consecutive road wins for the first time since Dec. 28-31... Jesse Schultz has registered three goals in his last three games... Krys Kolanos shows four goals and eight points in five games for the Aeros since being reassigned by parent-club Minnesota.

Ranking fifth in the East Division with 58 points, Philadelphia visits third-place Bridgeport (63 points) on Friday and fourth-place Binghamton (62 points) on Saturday... The Phantoms have won their last two games by 2-1 scores but are 0-2-0-0 in Bridgeport this season... Goaltender Scott Munroe ranks second in the AHL with 22 wins (22-12-1) and has stopped 68 of 70 shots (.971) over Philadelphia's two-game winning streak... Rookie Patrick Maroon shows seven points (1-6-7) in his last six contests... Bridgeport, coming off a 4-3 overtime win over San Antonio on Wednesday, hasn't won back-to-back games since Dec. 21-26... Mike Iggulden scored the game-winner on Wednesday and leads the Sound Tigers in goals (20) and points (49)... Ben Walter has a point in four of his last five tilts (1-3-4)... Bridgeport is tied for the AHL's second-best home power play (21.4 percent).

Winners of three straight games, Hamilton continues its East Division tour with visits to Norfolk on Friday, Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, and Philadelphia on Monday... Rookie Brock Trotter has a point in all three games of the Bulldogs' winning streak (1-3-4), and goaltender Marc Denis shows a 1.32 goals-against average in capturing all three victories... Hamilton's Mike Glumac and Norfolk's Brandon Segal each scored twice when the teams met in Ontario on Oct. 18, a 6-3 Bulldogs win... Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, which is idle on Friday, has won a season-high six games to pull within five points of first-place Hershey in the East... Jeff Taffe is on a four-game scoring streak (1-5-6) for the Penguins, and Mark Letestu shows four points (1-3-4) in his last two games... Pens goaltender John Curry is 16-3-0 (2.02, .929) since Dec. 13.
