Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI- Milwaukee Admirals forward Jed Ortmeyer scored with less than a minute to play in regulation to tie the score at two and send the game into overtime, but the Admirals eventually fell to Chicago 3-2 in a shoot-out.

The first two periods of the game showed an Admirals squad that was out of sync, making a number of passes that led to turnovers and chances for the Wolves. Chicago had much of the momentum, but Milwaukee's goaltender Drew MacIntyre proved that he could handle the pressure when it was dished his way by stopping all of the 21 shots attempted by the Wolves in the first two period, while the Admirals had just nine.

"If you generate nine shots in the first two periods of the game, you're not going to win many hockey games at home," said Admirals Head Coach Lane Lambert.

While the action was there for the first two stanzas, the scoring didn't commence until the third when Andreas Thuresson finally put one in for the Ads. It was Cody Franson who blazed a slapshot on a screened Ondrej Pavelec, but Thuresson was there to tip it over his glove for the 1-0 lead at 10:05 of the third.

After the Wolves scored exactly three minutes later to tie it up with a backhand from Spencer Machacek, they take control of the game when Jeff Hamilton received a perfect crisp pass from Joe Motzko to one-time it past Drew MacIntyre to give them a 2-1 lead with 3:10 to play in the game.

It looked as if they were going to head back to Chicago with a regulation win under their belts, but Jed Ortmeyer had other plans for the visitors. The Admirals were on a power play and had a 6-on-4 advantage with MacIntyre out of the net with 52 seconds left in the game. With all of the pressure in front of the net, Ortmeyer was able to capitalize when the puck deflected off his tape from a hard snapper from Franson and send the game into OT.

After both teams proved stubborn defensively during overtime, a shootout had to decide the victor. After both teams scored twice, it was Joe Motzko who beat MacIntyre top shelf as the fifth shooter and Chicago went home with the extra point.

"We left this game up to chance, and that wasn't good enough. Realistically, we were lucky to get a point," added Lambert

After a rare off-day on Saturday, the Admirals return to the ice for 4:00 pm matinee against the Quad City Flames on Sunday afternoon at the Bradley Center. Fans can order tickets by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-8000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Groups of ten or more people receive a minimum of $2 off of each ticket.
