
Amerks Take On Flames Tonight In Quad City

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans continue their five-game western road trip tonight as they travel to the i Wireless Center to take on the Quad City Flames. The 8:05 p.m. EST contest will be the second and final meeting between the two teams this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.
The Amerks are 1-0-0-0 against the Flames this season after defeating them in a 5-4 decision where five different players scored on October 24th at The Blue Cross Arena. The win was their first of the season and it ended a five-game losing streak.
Rochester, (19-29-0-4, 42 points) enters tonight's contest with a two-game winning streak after defeating the defending Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves 4-3 on Wednesday night at the Allstate Arena. Forward Janis Sprukts returned to the lineup and finished the game with two goals including the game-winner to earn him first star honors. Tyler Plante started his fifth game in row, but only made it to the end of the first where Mike Brodeur came in to finish the game. It was Brodeur's first action in five games due to a minor injury. He stopped 24 of 25 on the night.
Sprukts added to his point total to remain the Amerks' top scorer with a team-high 14 goals and 30 points. Rookie forward Jason Garrison has a team-best 21 assists, while his 25 points overall is good enough for third on the team. Forward Michal Repik comes into the matchup with nine points (4+5) in his last seven outings. Center Shawn Matthias enters tonight's contest with a three game point streak (1+2) and Michael Duco has an assist in each of the teams' last three games.
Duco is first on the team with 114 penalty minutes (PIM), with Tanner Glass a close second at 100 PIM. Brodeur, who returned last game from a minor injury, boasts a 14-5-2 record in 22 games for the Amerks. His 2.13 goals-against average and .932 save percentage currently rank him third among AHL netminders in both goaltending categories, respectively. Further, his two shutouts tie him for fifth in the league.
Quad City (18-23-5-5, 46 points), continuing their six-game homestand, comes into the matchup after dropping two of its last three, with the most recent coming in a 3-2 shootout win over the Houston Aeros Saturday night. Center Jamie Lundmark currently leads the Flames' offense with 35 assists and 49 points overall. His 35 assists presently rank him tied for 5th in the league. Third-year forward Kyle Greentree leads the Flames with 25 goals which is tied for third best in the league.
Rookie goaltender Leland Irving has a 10-11-1 record in 24 games between the pipes for the Flames, the second most for any Quad City goaltender this season. Further, his 2.35 goals-against average ranks him 6th among league goaltenders. Goaltender Kevin Lalande has been recalled from the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL and Matt Keetley has been assigned to Las Vegas. Lalande has a 9-8-2 record for the Wranglers this season and has played in one game this season for the Flames recording a 5-0 victory over Houston.
The Amerks return home on Wednesday, February 18th to host the Grand Rapids Griffins at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. It's the Moose's Birthday!
