Rampage Sign Jeff May to AHL Contract

SAN ANTONIO (January 23, 2009) - San Antonio Rampage General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that they have signed defenseman Jeff May to an American Hockey League contract. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

May, a native of Richmond, British Columbia, joins the Rampage after playing in 11 games with the Providence Bruins (AHL) collecting seven penalty minutes.

The 21-year-old began the season playing three games with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL) while on an amateur try-out contract. He since has split time between Providence and the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL). With the Wranglers he has tallied four goals and six assists in 23 games and was selected to the 2009 ECHL All-Star National Team.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defenseman split the 2007-08 season between the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League and the Prince Albert Raiders (WHL). With Prince Albert, May scored one goal and 19 assists in 25 games. He finished out the season with Lethbridge and tallied three goals and 21 assists in 29 games and went on to post two goals and seven assists in 19 post-season games for the 2008 WHL Eastern Conference Champion Hurricanes.

May posted 119 points (16 goals, 103 assists) and 319 penalty minutes through 281 career games over six seasons with Prince Albert (2002-08). He also contributed two goals and three assists in 25 post-season games for the Raiders (2003-04, 2004-05, 2006-07).

He was Detroit's seventh pick in the fifth round, 151st overall, of the 2005 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
