San Antonio Rampage News Release

MILWAUKEE, WI (January 23, 2009) - The Rampage sail past West Division-leading Milwaukee Admirals 5-1 at the Bradley Center Friday night as Brett MacLean and Wyatt Smith each tallied two goals apiece.

MacLean got the Rampage rolling 3:28 into the opening frame with a five-on-four power-play goal. Kevin Porter and David Schlemko were credited with the assists on Maclean's 12th goal of the season.

Smith lit up the lamp in his fourth straight game with a power-play goal just under two minutes later with help from Alexander Nikulin and Porter.

MacLean connected with Porter's shot with a redirect in front of the net for the Rampage's third goal in the first period at the 15:38 mark. MacLean, who will represent the Rampage in the 2009 AHL All-Star game next Monday, recorded his second power-play goal as Joel Perrault picked up his first assist of the night.

Despite the Admirals outshooting the Rampage 18-4 in the second frame, the Rampage posted the lone goal with only 1:33 left in the middle frame with a hard shot from Smith high glove side to get past Admirals goaltender Drew MacIntyre. Smith's goal was the Rampage's first shorthanded goal since December 13th vs. Quad City (Porter). Perrault was credited with the assist on Smith's 12th goal of the season.

The Rampage limited the Admirals to only four shots in the final frame as Nikulin went top shelf stick side on MacIntyre to give the Rampage a 5-0 advantage just over three minutes into the closing period. Spina tallied his first helper of the night while Perrault picked up his third on Nikulin's seventh goal of the season.

With 1:32 remaining in regulation, Ryan Maki spoiled Josh Tordjman's shutout bid with his second goal of the season. Jed Ortmeyer and Mark Matheson were credited with the assists.

The Rampage are now 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 games and close out the 2008-09 series against the Admirals with a 2-3-0-1 record. They will travel to Iowa tomorrow for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Chops at Wells Fargo Arena.
