Salt Lake City, UT - Shed Long throttled his third home run and Tacoma Rainiers pitchers allowed three hits in a 4-0 shutout victory on Thursday at Salt Lake, blanking the Bees for the second time in three contests as part of a four-game series split at Smith's Ballpark.

Knotted 0-0 after three innings, the Rainiers (11-17) took a fourth inning advantage on a wild pitch from Sacramento (9-17) starter Nick Tropeano (0-1) which scored Jose Lobaton. Later in the frame, Ian Miller pulled his 10th double to right field, bringing in Joey Curletta for a 2-0 lead.

After Tacoma hurler Tyler Cloyd was relieved after 3 2/3 scoreless innings, righty Robinson Leyer (1-1), who earned his first victory, recorded the final out of the fourth inning before the Rainiers offense added a fifth inning run on Long's solo home run to right center field.

In the sixth, Tacoma tacked on an insurance tally when Tim Lopes singled in Curletta for his second run of the game. Lopes has an RBI in four of his last five games.

Leyer's day was done after 2 1/3 shutout innings, and right-hander David McKay pitched the seventh and eighth with one hit allowed and two strikeouts. Righty Parker Markel allowed a two-out baserunner but struck out the final batter of the game to slam the door on the shutout victory.

The Rainiers return home on Friday to take on the Albuquerque Isotopes, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, with Tacoma lefty Jon Niese (0-0, 5.40) on the hill for first pitch at 7:05 p.m. PDT. There will be postgame Friday Night Fireworks presented by BECU. Mike Curto will have full coverage on South Sound Talk 850, with audio streaming available on the Rainiers TuneIn Radio Network.
