Rainiers Shutout Bees

May 2, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Tacoma Rainiers shutout the Salt Lake Bees 4-0 on Thursday morning.

The Rainiers pitching staff held the Bees to four hits and struck out nine in their second shutout of the series. Tacoma plated the first two runs of the game in the fourth inning off a wild pitch and a RBI-double to take an early 2-0 lead. Tacoma would tack on one run in the fifth from solo home run and one in the sixth from a RBI-single to extend the lead to 4-0.

Nick Tropeano (0-1) was tagged with the loss his second start of the season, tossing four innings and allowing two earned on four hits while fanning seven batters. The Bees offense could not capitalize on scoring opportunities, going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and leaving nine on-base. Cesar Puello's 13-game hitting streak came to an end as he went 0-4.

Tomorrow, the Bees will start a 12-game, 13-day road trip to El Paso, Las Vegas and Reno before returning to Smith's Ballpark on Thursday, May 16.
