Raiders Sink Hitmen in Shootout

Prince Albert, SK - The Calgary Hitmen extended their season high point streak to eight games but dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday night at Art Hauser Centre.

The Hitmen, who played their third game in four days and sixth in 10 nights, are now 4-0-2-2 since late November.

Prince Albert scored the only two goals of the shootout after forcing extra time on a marker from Keaton Sorensen with 8:15 remaining in the third period. Cale Sanders and Reece Vitelli also found the back of the net for the home side.

Defenceman Keagan Slaney powered the Calgary attack with a goal and an assist with Riley Fiddler-Schultz counting his 13th of the season and Oliver Tulk his sixth.

The back and forth contest saw Prince Albert lead 2-1 after the opening frame and the Hitmen up 3-2 after 40 minutes.

Calgary outshot Prince Albert 31-25 with rookie goaltender Ethan Buenaventura making 22 saves on the road while Raiders netminder Tikon Chaika turned aside 28 shots.

The Hitmen, 11-9-2-2, will head back to Alberta to host the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary will then face Red Deer in a home and home before the holiday break with a Friday, Dec. 17 visit to Central Alberta before hosting the Rebels on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 2:00 p.m.
