Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Regina, Sask. - The Prince Albert Raiders (9-13-1-1) had their four-game point streak snapped by the Regina Pats (11-14-0-0) as they fell 5-2 at the Brandt Centre on Friday night.

Carson Latimer recorded both of the Raiders' goals in the loss.

The Pats got the scoring started with a power-play goal. Off the ensuing faceoff, Tanner Howe connected on a one-timer from the right faceoff circle to send the bears flying on Regina's Teddy Bear Toss Night.

With 5:56 left in the first, the Pats extended their lead with another power-play goal. Stanislav Svozil's shot was stopped by Tikhon Chaika, but the rebound found the stick of Layton Feist. He banged in the rebound to make it a 2-0 game.

The Raiders had their chances in the opening period. Landon Kosior and Ozzy Wiesblatt each hit the crossbar on power-play attempts, while Sloan Stanick's deflection of Nolan Allan's shot hit the post behind Matthew Kieper.

Just 30 seconds into the second period, the Raiders cut the lead in half. Allan and Remy Aquilon switched at the blueline and the Chicago Blackhawks prospect put a shot on goal. The puck hit Latimer in front of the goal and got past Kieper to make it 2-1 with Latimer's ninth of the season.

Zane Rowan restored the Pats' two-goal lead two minutes later. His shot from a sharp angle in the left corner beat Chaika to give the Pats a 3-1 lead.

At the 5:26 mark, the Pats scored their third power-play goal of the night to make it a three-goal game. A shot from the left wing was deflected in front of Chaika. Logan Nijhoff batted it out of the air while standing inside the crease to extend the Pats' lead to 4-1.

Latimer scored his second of the game to bring the Raiders back within two late in the second period. He entered the zone on the right wing with speed on the power play, cut behind the net and attempted a wraparound. The puck went off a Pats' defender in front of the goal and past Kieper to make it a 4-2 game at the second intermission.

The Raiders had chances to get back within one in the third period, including two power plays. However, they were unable to solve Keiper again in the contest.

Chaika stopped 21 shots in the loss for the Raiders. Kieper made 25 saves to pick up the win for the Pats.

The Raiders return to the Art Hauser Centre on Saturday night to take on the Calgary Hitmen on Toque And Mitt Toss Night Presented By Canadian Tire. Game time is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Raiders Office during open hours and at SaskTix.ca.
