(Scranton, PA) - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starter Bryan Mitchell tossed six scoreless innings despite issuing seven walks and combined with reliever Danny Burawa on a three-hitter as the RailRiders beat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 5-1, in the rubber-match of a three-game series Wednesday afternoon at PNC Field.

Mitchell (4-4) allowed just two hits and struck out three while throwing 105 pitches in his six innings of work. Burawa allowed a home run to Pawtucket catcher Matt Spring (4) in the seventh but then got through the next three innings without giving up a hit to finish the series victory.

The RailRiders (28-26) have now won seven of the last eight games against the PawSox, including taking five of six in the last ten days. Pawtucket started Miguel Celestino (0-3) at the beginning of a bullpen day for the pitching staff, and Celestino allowed one run in 3.0 full innings of work.

The right-hander struggled early with command, issuing three walks in the first inning and an RBI single by Kyle Roller that made the score 1-0 Scranton. Celestino, starting for the first time since 2012, then settled down and retired the final eight batters he faced.

Reliever Dayan Diaz followed Celestino and allowed three runs in the fourth inning, a rally highlighted by an RBI double from Jonathan Galvez and a two-run single by Mason Williams that extended the RailRiders' lead to 4-0. Diaz then allowed an RBI double to Eddy Rodriguez in the sixth.

Newcomer Kyle Kraus, just promoted from Double-A Portland before the game, tossed 2.2 scoreless innings to finish the day on the mound for the PawSox. Jackie Bradley, Jr. and Bryce Brentz joined Spring as the lone Pawtucket batters to collect a hit on the afternoon.

The PawSox seven-game road trip now continues to Rochester for the next two nights. Game one of the series is scheduled for a 7:05pm first pitch on Thursday night. Left-hander Henry Owens (2-3, 3.15) is expected to start for the PawSox while the Red Wings counter with lefty Taylor Rogers (4-3, 3.34). The game can be seen regionally on NESN, while radio coverage on 920 AM (WHJJ) and also streaming online begins at 6:50 pm.

The PawSox return home on Monday, June 8th to welcome Charlotte at the beginning of a seven-game homestand. Good seats are still available at the McCoy Stadium box office, by calling (401) 724-7300 or by visiting pawsox.com.
