Parley Receives the Call
December 28, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Jared Bednar announced today that goaltender Davis Parley has been called-up to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.
Parley, 25, is 9-3-1 with a 2.23 goals-against-average and a .922 save percentage this season, and was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the period running Dec. 17-23. During the 2006-07 campaign, the 6-foot-2, 182-pound netminder set Stingrays team records with 60 appearances and 3,522 minutes played. He also posted a 31-19-7 record, and made his AHL debut for Hershey last Jan. 24, stopping 21 shots in a 6-1 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms.
"It's nice to see him get rewarded," Bednar said. "He's certainly paid his dues at this level, and when he's on top of his game he's one of the premier goalies in our league."
The native of Grenfell, Sask. has registered an 82-81-24 record with five shutouts during his five-year professional career with the Texas Wildcatters, Bakersfield Condors and South Carolina, including a 54-34-12 mark in three seasons with the Stingrays.
Prior to turning pro, Parley played four years with the WHL's Kamloops Blazers, posting an 80-61-10 record and seven shutouts. Originally, he was a fourth round selection of the Florida Panthers (120th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Listen in tomorrow night as the Stingrays look to tie their team record for ten consecutive wins as they play the Charlotte Checkers in Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. Fans can tune in to the Real 1340am beginning at 7:15 p.m. with Josh Heller, Voice of the Rays.
