Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers fell to the Idaho Steelheads 3-2 on Friday night in front of 6,028 fans at the Orleans Arena. Idaho's Lance Galbraith scored the go-ahead goal with 2:12 left in the game, giving the Steelheads their first road-win in regulation this season. Las Vegas forwards Adam Cracknell and Peter Ferraro each scored, as the team dropped to 9-2-2 at home this season. Las Vegas goalie Daniel Manzato stopped 26 of 29 Idaho shots in the defeat. Idaho goalie Steve Silverthorn stopped 29 of 31 Las Vegas shots for the victory. The Wranglers will play in Bakersfield on Sunday at 5:05 pm.
Las Vegas scored the only goal in the first period. Defenseman Mike Madill sent a puck to the Idaho net that was redirected by Adam Cracknell at 13:53. Cracknell's 13th goal of the season gave Las Vegas a 1-0 lead.
In the second period, the Wranglers stretched their lead to 2-0 with a goal by Peter Ferraro. The Wranglers right wing scored his team-leading 14th goal of the season at 6:39. Idaho countered with a power-play goal by defenseman Jeremy Scherlinck at 11:35, trimming the Wranglers lead to 2-1.
In the third period, the Steelheads scored twice, including Matt Craig's fourth goal of the season at 7:35. Idaho left wing Lance Galbraith forced a turnover in the Las Vegas zone and then scored the game-winning goal with just over two minutes remaining. Galbraith's 11th goal of the season capped of a three-goal comeback by Idaho and gave the Steelheads their 13th win of the season.
After a 6:00 pm game in Bakersfield on Sunday, Las Vegas will return home to host Stockton at 5:05 pm on New Year's Day at the Orleans Arena.
