TRENTON, NJ (December 28, 2007) - One night after posting three assists, Eric Castonguay followed with two strong goals including an equalizer. But it was not enough to power the Devils past the Jackals in the shootout at Sovereign Bank Arena. The Devils dropped only their second extra-frame game by a score of 4-3 against Elmira.

Castonguay's game-tying tally came on a feed from Colin Pepperall 8:55 into the third. The rookie forward raced into the slot and fired at Elmira netminder Joel Martin's left shoulder. The puck bounced over the surprised goaltender's pads and into the net, knotting the game at three.

After a scoreless first period Benoit Doucet would put the Jackals on the board 3:05 into the second frame. But the Devils responded less than a minute and a half later, when Joe Rooney found the back of the net for his first goal since coming off the Injured Reserve.

The Devils would add to Rooney's equalizer with Castonguay's first goal of the game, a one-timer from the crease off a pass by Stephen Wood on the nearside boards. The Quebecois' goal arrived 46 seconds after Rooney's, who was also credited with an assist.

Castonguay increased his team lead in goals to 12 on the season. Pepperall now has a five game point streak in which he has posted three goals and six assists.

The Trenton Devils take off for Reading tomorrow, playing their arch-rivals for the seventh time this season at the Sovereign Center Saturday, December 29th at 7:05pm. Tune into WTSR 91.3 or go online to www.trentondevils.com and listen or watch live courtesy of B2 Networks.
