Idaho Steelheads News Release

Las Vegas, NV - Lance Galbraith scored with 2:12 left in the regulation capping three unanswered goals by the Steelheads in a 3-2 win over the Wranglers at Orleans Arena on Friday night.

Galbraith's second game-winner of the season, and his 11th marker overall, allows the Steelheads (13-10-7) to split the two-game set with the Wranglers (21-4-4), wrapping up the eight-game season series, four of which were won by the Steelheads. On the unassisted goal, Galbraith stripped a Wranglers' defenseman of the puck deep in the offensive zone and curled up to the top of the right circles before blasting a slap shot past Wranglers' goaltender Daniel Manzato (26 saves).

The Wranglers took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, as Adam Cracknell tipped Mike Madill's point shot past Steve Silverthorn (29 saves) for his 13th goal of the season. Kelly Czuy recorded the second assist.

In the second period Peter Ferraro put the Wranglers in front 2-0 when he followed up a rush into the offensive zone and flipped a shot from the right circles over the glove of Silverthorn for his team-leading 14th of the campaign. Shawn Limpright and Tyler Mosienko picked up the helpers on the goal at 6:39.

The Steelheads got on the board at 11:35 of the second period on a left wing shot by Jeremy Scherlinck, his first professional goal. Marty Flichel won an offensive zone draw back to Scherlinck and the Grosse Point, Michigan native floated a shot through traffic and just inside the far post.

Through two periods the Steelheads trailed 2-1 and the shots favored the Wranglers 20-17.

Steelheads' forward Matt Craig tied the game at two with an even-strength goal at 7:35 of the third period, with Taggart Desmet and Blake Forsyth drawing the helpers. For Craig, it was his fourth of the year and second against the Wranglers.

The final shots favored the Wranglers 31-29, as the Steelheads earned their second road win of the season and their fifth victory in their last seven games overall. Silverthorn now has six wins, while Manzato lost for just the second time. Neither team scored on the power play in 15 combined opportunities.

The Steelheads head to Phoenix to tangle with the RoadRunners for a three-game series beginning on Saturday, December 29. The puck drops at 8:05 p.m. MST. All the action can be heard live on 1350 AM, KTIK "The Ticket" or via the B2 Networks. Don't forget, Steelheads' single-game tickets can be purchased via www.idahosteelheads.com (using the print-at-home feature), by calling 331-TIXS or from the Qwest Arena box office.
