Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, MS - Jason Tejchma scored a pair of third period goals to draw the Mississippi Sea Wolves even with the Florida Everblades at four-apiece in the third period, but Florida was able to salvage the 5-4 win in the shootout in front of 4,328 fans at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Friday night.
Florida took a 2-0 lead into the locker room after one period of play as Brad Herauf scored his first of the game on the power play at 3:57 and Dan Collins scored his first of the season on the man advantage at 19:05.
The Everblades added to their lead just 25 seconds into the third period when Preston Callander drove in and fired the puck past Mississippi goaltender Morgan Cey to make it 3-0 in favor of Florida. The Sea Wolves answered back just 12 seconds later, when Kyle McAllister potted his fifth goal of the season on the rebound of a shot from Jason Tejchma at the 37 second mark.
The Sea Wolves cut the Florida lead to one early in the third period when Stan Lascek cashed in the rebound of Torry Gajda's shot at 3:06. Florida was the only team to score while Mississippi has a power play, doing so shorthanded when Brad Herauf netted his second of the night as he came down on a two-on-one break with J.B. Bittner at 10:28.
Just under five minutes later, Jason Tejchma would net his first goal of the night, taking a centering feed from Ryan Menei and shoveling it past Everblades goaltender Justin Peters at 15:22 of the third. Tejchma would add his second of the night when Matt Deschamps hit him with a lead pass at the Florida blue line, he split the defensemen and put the puck past Peters at 18:07.
The game remained scoreless through overtime, and Florida got goals in the shootout from Dan Collins, Preston Callander, and Brad Herauf to notch the win.
