Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that they have signed defenseman Trevor Wolfe to an ECHL contract. Wolfe joined the club this morning in Elmira to travel with the club for tonight's game in Trenton against the Devils (7:30 p.m. face-off on MAGIC FM at 92.7/97.7 and www.jackalshockey.com).
Wolfe comes the Jackals from Wooster of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League. Appearing in 16 games, he was the club's fourth-leading scorer with four goals and 19 assists for 23 points along with 18 PIM. 15 of his 23 points have come via special teams play this season (2+10=12 power play/0+3=3 shorthanded). Wolfe scored his first professional goal November 9th against Jamestown in a 4-3 win.
Elmira is the third stop in the ECHL for the fourth-year professional after previous stints in Texas (seven games in 2003-04) and Trenton (19 games in 2006-07) as part of his 60 pro games overall. A three-year skater collegiately at the University of Findlay (OH) of College Hockey America, Wolfe appeared 67 games with two goals, nine points and 76 PIM.
With Wolfe's signing and Dan Kronick's return to the line-up off of the three-day injured reserve list, the Jackals will have 15 eligible skaters for tonight's contest in Trenton. Forward Joe Pelle was released by the Jackals Thursday while forward Chris Holmes will rejoin the club from Valley Forge (MAHL). Holmes made his ECHL debut with Elmira in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss in Reading.
