
Cyclones drop Reading, 3-1 Friday night

READING, Pennsylvania - The Cincinnati Cyclones power play unit scored a pair of second period goals in leading the club to a 3-1 win over Reading on Friday night. Dov Grumet-Morris extended his unbeaten streak to eleven games (10-0-1) with a 25 save performance.
The Cyclones opened the scoring 13:49 into the first period when rookie Thomas Beauregard fired a shot from the right faceoff circle past the glove of Jon Quick to give Cincinnati a 1-0 edge. Barret Ehgoetz and Conrad Martin added the assists.
The Cyclones struck for a pair of power play goals in the second period, as David Desharnais scored his eleventh goal at 1:21 from Travis Fuller and Andrew Martin. For Desharanis, it was his fourth goal in the past two games. Jean-Michel Daoust collected his league-leading 23rd goal with the man-advantage at 3:24, to open the 3-0 edge. Reading cut the deficit to two when Brock Hooton picked up his ninth goal at 9:31.
There was no scoring in the third period, as Cincinnati won its sixth straight game for the first time since March 19-29, 2002.
Cincinnati and the club is now 17-3-2 in its last 22 games. Cincinnati is 22-6-2 with the win-leaders of the North Division, while Reading is 17-10-2. The Royals are 9-2-1 at home this season, with the two regulation time losses to Cincinnati.
The Cyclones are at Elmira on Saturday night (Dec. 29) for a 7:35pm tilt with the Jackals. First place will be on the line for the winner of that contest.
The Cyclones are next at U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, January 5 when Reading comes to town for Rich Franklin Night at 7:30pm.
