
Painchaud, LeNeveu Lead Stingrays to Second-Straight Shutout Victory

Toledo, OH - Forward Chad Painchaud scored two goals and goaltender David LeNeveu recorded 32 saves in his ECHL debut to propel the South Carolina Stingrays (13-2-1-2) over the Toledo Walleye (5-8-2-0) 4-0 at Huntington Center Friday evening. Painchaud extended his personal point streak to six games (4 goals, 8 assists).
Painchaud broke a scoreless tie at 17:32 of the second period catching a pass from forward Wayne Simpson and racing past the defense for a breakaway and beating Walleye netminder Hannu Toivonen (L, 35 saves on 39 shots) under the blocker with a snapshot.
Simpson made it 2-0 unassisted at 8:54 of the final period for his third goal of the season. Moments later, Painchaud registered his team-leading ninth tally of the campaign and second of the contest at 12:23 tapping in a pass from defenseman Jeremy Price . Forward Jack Downing struck 19 seconds later lifting a shot over the shoulder of Toivonen from the right-wing circle. The Stingrays finished the game 0-for-3 on the power play while the Walleye went 0-for-2.
The Stingrays continue a six-game road trip tomorrow, Saturday, November 30 against the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30 p.m. at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday, December 14 to take on the Orlando Solar Bears at 7:05 p.m. on College Night and Teddy Bear Toss benefiting Debi's Kids .
The Stingrays will wear special Clemson University jerseys and auction them LIVE after the contest. Clemson alum and two-time Super Bowl Champion Jim Stuckey will drop the ceremonial first puck along with Charleston native and "Survivor: One World" finalist Chelsea Meissner .
