Jackals Assigned Rookie Forward by Buffalo

ELMIRA, N.Y. - November 29, 2013 - The Elmira Jackals announced today that rookie forward Colin Jacobs has been reassigned to the club by the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres from Rochester of the American Hockey League.
Colin Jacobs played for Team Orr in the 2011 CHL Top Prospects Game.
Jacobs, 20, began the season with Rochester and played in thirteen contests. He registered an assist with the Americans on October 25, 2013 against Hamilton. Jacobs skated in eleven games with the Americans at the end of last season on an amateur tryout. He scored his first pro goal in his second AHL game on March 23, 2013 against Houston. Jacobs added his first multi-point game with two assists on April 6, 2013 against Adirondack. He also scored the shootout-winner that night.
Jacobs signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Buffalo on May 30, 2013. Prior to joining Rochester, Jacobs led the Prince George Cougars with 25 goals and 53 points in 66 Western Hockey League games. In 252 career WHL games, Jacobs compiled 142 points (69 goals, 73 assists) and 332 penalty minutes.The Coppell, Texas native was selected by the Sabres in the fourth round (107th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Jacobs has arrived in Elmira and is expected to be available to play in this week's games against the Wheeling Nailers and Cincinnati Cyclones at First Arena.
Additionally the Jackals have loaned veteran defenseman Nick Tuzzolino to the Rochester Americans. Tuzzolino, a Buffalo, N.Y. native, had seven points (1 goal, 6 assists) in 13 games with Fort Wayne to begin the season. The 6-5, 225-pound defenseman also racked up 46 penalty minutes while serving as the Komets' captain. Earlier this week Elmira acquired Tuzzolino from the Fort Wayne Komets in exchange for defenseman Jordon Southorn.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return home on November 29, 2013 to take on the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05 p.m. Tonight is "Bag A Turkey" Night at First Arena.
