Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. -The Colorado Eagles (11-3-2) swept the Alaska Aces (11-5-0) in the two-game home series at the Budweiser Events Center with a 2-1 win on Friday night to put the Eagles in the lead in the Mountain Division. The Eagles outshot the Aces 34-22 to help secure the 2-1 victory.
The first period was scoreless until Alaska Aces forward Nick Mazzolini snuck the puck past Eagles netminder Marc Cheverie with just 2.2 seconds left in the frame to give the Aces the 1-0 advantage.
Eagles forward Kyle Ostrow would tie the game, 1-1, with his fifth goal in as many games on a Colorado power play 17:01 into the second period.
The Eagle would kill off four Alaska power plays, including a 5-on-3 to keep the game deadlocked at 1-1. With less than five minutes left in the match-up, Colorado forward Jonathan Parker took a shot from the circle on a breakaway to beat Alaska goalie Olivier Roy top shelf and put the Eagles in the lead 2-1. The Eagles would hold off a furious rush from Alaska in the closing minutes of regulation to triumph over the Aces.
The Colorado Eagles hit the road to face-off with the Ontario Reign on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.
