Game Preview: Gladiators Host IceMen Again Tonight

DULUTH, Ga. - Tonight at 6:05 p.m. the Gladiators (6-12) host the Evansville IceMen (8-4-0-3) for the second night in their three game weekend series. Gwinnett went 4-0 against Evansville last season, outscoring them 17-8, but this year's IceMen squad is off to a dramatically better start compared to the team's first season in the ECHL.

Scouting the IceMen:

- Former Gladiators head coach Jeff Pyle has led a resurgent Evansville squad towards the top of the North Division with an 8-4-0-3 record a fifth of the way through the season. Evansville was in first before dropping games to Toledo and Fort Wayne over the weekend, allowing Cincinnati to hopover by a point. Evansville finished last in the North last season, with a 25-40-3-4 record.

- Matt Schepke leads the way for the IceMen with 6 goals and 8 assists, playing in all 15 of Evansville's games so far. Schepke is in seventh place in the East in terms of goals scored and ninth in points. The Warren, Michigan native has registered a point in eight of the last ten games, and has a point in 10 of the 15 games he's played in this season.

- Mike Clemente has carried the load in net for Evansville, playing in all but three of their games so far. Clemente isfifth in the league, and second in the conference, with an 8-2-0-2 record, and sits at 23rd in the league with a 2.72 goals against average, and 19th in the East with a .897 save percentage.

Glads Notes:

Gobble Gobble: The Gladiators played in their 11th annual Thanksgiving game yesterday, beating Evansville 3-0. Gwinnett is now 5-4-0-2 all-time on Turkey Day, and have shutout their last two Thanksgiving opponents.

Loco for Louis: In his two starts since returning from AHL Portland, Coyotes goaltending prospect Louis Domingue has been outstanding. He's stopped 83 of 85 shots faced for a 1-1 record, a 1.01 GAA, and a .976 save percentage. He made 40 saves picking up the Gladiators first shutout of the season last night against Evansville.

Killer PK: Over their last ten games, the Gladiators have held the opposition to 1-for-32 on the power play. On the season Gwinnett ranks 7th in the ECHL, killing off 87.9% of opposing power plays.

No Rest for the Weary: The South Division continues to be one of the best in the ECHL. The first 17 of the Gladiators games this season have come against a division foe, with Gwinnett's opponents as of Monday sporting a combined record of 39-20-3-5.

Milestones: Forward Joey Haddad is one game away from 100 as a Gladiator ... Goaltender Peter Delmas is one game away from 100 in the ECHL ... Evan Bloodoff is five games away from his 75th game as a Gladiator.

Everybody Do Your Share: Of the 24 skaters that played in the first 18 games, 22 have at least a point for theGladiators. Brenden Walker, Jonathan Narbonne, Josh Currie, Kurtis Bartliff, Philippe Halley, Devon Krogh, Marshall Everson, and Jeremie Malouin have scored their first professional goals so far this season, and 15 different Gladiators have scored at least one goal this season.

Snippets: The Gladiators are 6-2 when scoring three or more goals, and 0-10 when scoring two or fewer ... Gwinnett is 4-2 when scoring a power play goal, but 1-6 when allowing one ... The Gladiators are 5-0 Monday through Thursday this season, but 1-12 Friday through Sunday.
