San Francisco Bulls News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - The San Francisco Bulls (6-11-1-1) killed off all seven power plays against and came from behind to defeat the Utah Grizzlies (5-8-1-1), 2-1, Friday night at the Maverik Center. J.P. Anderson earned his first career win, stopping 31 of 32 shots. Tyler Gron tied the game at one and Collin Bowman put the Bulls ahead on a night when fans launched stuffed animals onto the ice for the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss.

The Bulls fell behind at 8:28 of the first period on a rebound score by Norm Ezekiel. The goal resulted in stuffed animals being unleashed onto the ice. However, the Bulls responded. With just 1:28 left in the opening frame, Gron beat goaltender Ben Meisner for his fourth goal in three games with the Bulls. Brett Findlay and Steven Tarasuk earned assists on the tally. Utah led 11-5 in shots after 20 minutes.

In the second period, Dean Ouellet drew a five-minute power play after getting kneed by Danick Paquette. After several more penalties, the Bulls converted on a 4-on-3 power play. Bowman swept home a backhand in the slot to put the Bulls up 2-1 with his first goal of the season. Jordan Morrison and Tarasuk earned the helpers. The Bulls trailed in shots 24-13 after two periods.

In the final frame, the Bulls began to pile up the penalties. Utah earned four straight power plays, but Anderson and the penalty killing unit stood tough to preserve the 2-1 lead.

The Bulls stay in Utah to take on the Grizzlies tomorrow night at 6:05 pm PT. Watch the game at Park 77 Bar or on KNBR.com.
