Today's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (14-20-4-1) conclude their brief two game road trip when they take on the Stockton Thunder (19-13-0-4), this evening, at Stockton Arena. This is the ninth of 15 meetings between these rivals this year. They are tied at nine points apiece in the season series.
Two nights ago, San Francisco lost to the Bakersfield Condors, 4-2. The Bulls held a lead twice, but were downed by three unanswered goals from the Condors in the second period. Brett Findlay and Dean Ouellet scored the two tallies for San Francisco. Jordan Morrison, Steven Tarasuk, Ryan Garlock, and Dylan King had assists. Bakersfield outshot the Bulls, 29-27.
With a goal in the loss, Findlay continues to march his way up the rookie scoring leaders. His 29 points (9g, 20a) now rank him third in the ECHL. His 20 assists are a team-high, and he also shares the team lead in points and plus/minus rating (+3). In addition, he is riding a five-game point streak, with seven points (2g, 5a) in that span.
Ouellet, the team's standout rookie last year, has also been on a hot streak as of late. He has a five-game point streak of his own, and has compiled 13 points (5g, 8a) in the last 10 games. He is tied for the team lead in points (29), is second in assists (19), and tied for third in goals (10).
The last time the Bulls took on the Thunder, they were completing a rare and physical five-game series. Stockton emerged with the slight edge in the series, securing six points to San Francisco's five. The rivalry continues this evening. The Bulls will need to keep an eye on forward Joey Martin. He leads the team in assists (26), and points (35). His 26 assists are tied for fourth in the ECHL. In eight games against San Francisco, he has compiled 11 points (2g, 9a).
San Francisco is in seventh place in the Western Conference with 33 points. They are three points behind the Utah Grizzlies, and one ahead of the Bakersfield Condors. Stockton is in fourth place in the Western Conference with 42 points. They are two points ahead of the Idaho Steelheads.
