Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (26-6-2-3), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, saw their second straight overtime against the Colorado Eagles (20-10-5-2) but won this one 3-2 in front of a sellout crowd of 9,584 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Saturday night.

Just 31 seconds after going on the power play, the Eagles were first on the board at 7:46 when Luke Fulghum's wrist shot slid across the ice and went in past Jussi Olkinuora's blocker side.

In the second period, Brett Beebe tied the game at 6:34. Adrian Van de Mosselaer fired a shot from the right point which was redirected by Jason Dale and went in off the stick of Beebe for his third tally of the season.

At the 3:43 mark of the final frame, Greg Gardner received a cross-ice feed from Alex Hudson as he skated in through the seam and backhanded a shot top-shelf past Olkinuora. The goal gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Ontario would get the equalizer at 6:41, when Mario Lamoureux intercepted a pass from the Eagles in their own end and sent it toward a waiting Matt Register in the slot. Register took a couple strides in toward Marc Cheverie and wristed a shot up top to tie the game 2-2. Matt White earned the secondary assist.

In standard Reign fashion, the score remained tied after 60 minutes of play, forcing the Reign's fifteenth overtime of the season. Van de Mosselaer kept the puck inside the Eagles zone and shot it toward the Colorado cage. Beebe was there to get the rebound out toward Everett Sheen who slammed it home with a backhand to end the game for Ontario 3-2.

Olkinuora earned his first Reign win stopping 23 shots; Cheverie took the loss with 31 saves.
