
Bulls Come Back to Earn 3-2 Shootout Win over Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls (15-20-4-1) came back to beat the Stockton Thunder (20-13-0-5), 3-2 in a shootout, Sunday at Stockton Arena. The Thunder had a one goal advantage twice, only to have the Bulls come back and tie it each time. Sebastian Stalberg played the hero, scoring to push the game into extra time, and netting the game winner in the shootout. Tyler Beskorowany earned the victory, stopping 34 shots, including four in the shootout.
The Thunder struck first. Shawn Boutin floated a shot from the right point that got past a screened Beskorowany. The unassisted goal came with 6:50 left in the first period. The Bulls picked up the pace and had a few scoring chances late, but couldn't find the back of the net. At the end of one, Stockton led 1-0. San Francisco had the edge in shots, 11-7.
In the second period the Bulls found the equalizer. Jordan Morrison stuffed home a rebound to tie up the game at 1-1. The tally came with 6:18 remaining in the period. Dale Mitchell and Dean Ouellet registered assists on the play. With 4:37 left, Matt Bergland put the Thunder back on top on a feed from Greg Miller. Garet Hunt also had a helper. Through 40 minutes, Stockton led, 2-1.
Late in the third, Stalberg finally found the equalizer. With 6:38 remaining in regulation, he collected his own rebound and wristed it by Foster. After a scoreless final six minutes, the game went to overtime.
In extra time, Stockton had a late power play chance, but the Bulls kept them off the board. The game was sent to a shootout.
In the skills competition, San Francisco had goals from Ouellet and Stalberg. Beskorowany stopped four of five Stockton shooters to clinch the victory.
The Bulls now have an extended 11-day break. They return to action on Thursday, January 30. They'll be facing off with the Thunder once again, back home at the Cow Palace. The game begins at 7:30pm.
