West Valley City, Utah - The Ontario Reign defeated the Utah Grizzlies 2-1 Friday night at Maverik Center as the Reign scored the game-winning goal 3:44 into the third period to break a 2-1 tie.

Utah outshot Ontario 14-3 in the first period and had two five-on-three power-plays as well, but trailed 1-0 after one period.

"We definitely had a chance to win, we absolutely dominated them in the first, I thought we deserved a better fate coming out of that period," said Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. "We battled back, tied it in the second, had a period to win the game and didn't play well enough."

Utah tied the game 15:14 into the second period as Kris Hogg knocked a puck away and Mike Folkes got it in front for Danick Paquette who scored his first goal of the year.

The Reign scored on a third effort 3:44 into the third period to take a 2-1 lead that they held

onto. The Grizzlies killed a five minute shorthanded situation late and had several scoring chances in the final five minutes, but didn't get the puck to drop.

Igor Bobkov stopped 24 of 26 shots in the game, a day after rejoining the Grizzlies from Norfolk of the AHL after being reassigned by Anaheim.

The Grizzlies debuted three new forwards in the game as Mathieu Aubin and Michael Pelech, who arrived in Utah late this morning after being acquired in a trade from Cincinnati both dressed and made an impact in the contest. Neither player practiced this morning and took the ice for the first time during warm-ups. Utah also welcomed Rylan Galiardi, signed Tuesday, and Stefan Warg (assigned from Anaheim Thursday) in the game.
