Gwinnett, GA: Goaltender Jeff Malcolm won his first professional game as the Road Warriors snap a four-game losing streak to beat the Gladiators 2-1.

The first period brought many power play opportunities but both netminders shut the door on scoring chances. Greenville had two power plays and Gwinnett had three; one of which was a 5-on-3 opportunity. Both teams had seven shots on net in the period.

The scoreless game would be broken by Josh Nicholls. A pass from the corner was deflected off the forward's leg and past Peter Delmas. Elgin Pearce and Marc-Olivier Vallerand tallied the helpers for the rookie's first professional goal. More special teams' opportunities would come into play but again, neither team could convert. With four minutes left in the period, Marshall Everson tied the game at one with a wrist shot that beat Malcolm glove side. The game moved into the third tied at one.

The beginning of the third period was a tight battle with both teams trading scoring chances and psychical play. Greenville was whistled for a too many men penalty halfway through the period to give Gwinnett another opportunity. Marc-Olivier Vallerand turned the tables, converting on a scoring chance of his own. The fourth year forward broke into the Gladiators zone on a breakaway and beat Delmas on a backhand shot. The goal was Vallerand's first of the year and was assisted by Brad Cole. Malcolm stopped 25 pucks in route to his first victory. Delmas was the losing goaltender with 28 saves.
