Ontario Reign News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UT - The Ontario Reign (5-1-1-2), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, suffered their first regulation loss when the Utah Grizzlies (2-4-1-1) shut them out 2-0 on Saturday night at Maverik Center in Utah.

For the first time this season, the Reign were kept off the board. Two full periods passed them by without a name on the scoreboard and it took until 9:51 into the third period before the Grizzlies first lit the lamp.

In the third period, Channing Boe took a shot on net but it came loose for Rylan Galiardi to swat at and score stick-side on Mathias Niederberger breaking the stalemate between the two teams. Mathieu Aubin earned the secondary assist on the goal. Kris Hogg and T.J. Battani had a two-on-one opportunity from the Reign blue line. Hogg was covered by the lone Reign defenseman and sent a pass across to Battani who wristed the puck past Niederberger's glove to put the Grizzlies up 2-0 at with just 1:41 remaining in regulation.

Niederberger took his first regulation loss with 26 saves on 28 shots; Aaron Dell earned the shutout stopping all 24 Reign shots.
