South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that forward Justin Maylan has returned to the team from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Maylan, 22, skated in four games with the Barons recording two penalty minutes. Earlier this season, the Calgary, Alberta, native dressed in two contests with the Stingrays adding one assist. Last season, Maylan appeared in 49 games with the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL during his rookie campaign finishing third on the team with 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists). Before suffering a season-ending injury in early February, Maylan was third among ECHL rookies in scoring and power-play points (15) and second among first-year players with 12 power-play assists and 144 shots. On January 23, 2013, he represented the Thunder in the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game in Loveland, Colorado and added one assist in the ECHL All-Stars' 7-3 victory over the Colorado All-Stars. The Stingrays acquired the ECHL rights to Maylan on June 12 to complete an earlier trade with Stockton.
