Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Mickey Lang's late shorthanded goal proved the be the difference maker as the Fort Wayne Komets (3-4-0-2) rallied back to beat the Cincinnati Cyclones (7-1-0-0) by a 3-2 final score in front of 5,747 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night.
Taylor Aronson broke a scoreless tie at the 17:06 mark when he sent a seeing-eye wrist shot through Andrey Makarov (W, 25 saves, 3-2-0) to make it 1-0 Cincinnati. And thanks to 10 first period saves by Rob Madore (L, 29 saves, 6-1-0-0), the Cyclones were ahead by one at the first intermission.
The Komets pulled even just 2:31 into the middle period when forward Bobby Hughes lit the lamp for the first time this season. Despite Fort Wayne outshooting the Cyclones 15-6 in the stanza, the teams remained deadlocked through 40 minutes.
John McFarland put Cincinnati back on top at the 3:21 mark of period three, as he sniped in his sixth goal of the year to make it 3-2. Unfortunately, the Komets would mount a late game comeback as Chris Auger and Mickey Lang scored goals just two minutes apart beginning at the 15:48 mark to give the visitors a come-from-behind 3-2 win.
The Cyclones will return to the ice at U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday, November 13 when they welcome the Orlando Solar Bears to downtown Cincinnati at 7:30pm.
