ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, has signed right wing Sean O'Connor to a standard player contract on Wednesday. O'Connor marked his first game in a Reign sweater when he hit the ice in Ontario in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Bakersfield Condors.

The right winger may be new to the Reign roster, but is not unfamiliar with his new home ice. Reign fans might recognize O'Connor, who played in Ontario while with the Victoria Salmon Kings last season.

"It's been a frustrating year," said O'Connor, about not getting the chance to lace up the skates with the Augsburg Panthers, the German club he had signed with to start off the season. "It's great to have a fresh start with a new team. I'm looking forward to the long home stand coming up and playing in front all of our fans."

O'Connor, 28, started his professional hockey career with the now-defunct Jackson Bandits (ECHL) in 2002, and has since appeared with six different ECHL clubs, recording 164 points (100g, 64a) and 637 penalty minutes in 286 games in the league. The right wing, who hails from Victoria, B.C., has also hit the ice with the San Antonio Rampage and the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, recording one goal and an assist in 51 games with the AHL clubs between 2002 and 2005. O'Connor began the season signed with the Augsburg Panthers of the German DEL league but did not appear in any games with the club.
