Jackals All-Stars To Participate In Skills Competition

The ECHL announced Friday that Elmira Jackals forward Justin Donati and Maxime Gratchev will participate in the ECHL All-Star Skills Competition presented by Reebok and brought to you by Toyota and the City of Ontario on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Both players are currently on loan to the Jackals' AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.
Justin Donati, the ECHL's leading scorer with 56 points, will participate in the Sher-Wood Hockey Puck Control Relay, the Ice Town Breakaway Relay, and the Bull Outdoor Products Rapid Fire competition.
Gratchev, who is second in the ECHL among rookie scorers behind Donati with 34 points, will take part in the Reebok Fastest Skater competition and the Bull Outdoor Products Rapid Fire competition.
The ECHL All-Star Game presented by Reebok and brought to you by Toyota and the City of Ontario is on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.
The Jackals are at Reading on Friday night, taking on the Royals. However, First Arena is still active this weekend. The action, in fact, is just getting underway, as X-Treme International Ice Racing presented by Buckley's Automotive and Knappy's Auto Body makes its way back to First Arena Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Last season, X-treme Ice Racing sold out both nights at First Arena, and left three time world-champion rider Anthony "The British Bulldog" Barlow professing his gratitude to Elmira.
"The fans here last year were great and it was a blast racing in front of fans in Elmira. The crowd was really into it, and I can't wait to come back next year," he said.
Next year is now. Barlow and more of the world's top ice racers will bring their action-packed, heart-racing battles to First Arena. There are no brakes in the bikes or quads, which leads to a night of pure adrenaline.
Once X-Treme Ice Racing ends, preparations begin for Wine On Ice, which will take place on Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 23 over three sessions. Wine On Ice, presented by WENY-TV, is a winter sampling of the Finger Lakes' best in wine, food, shopping and entertainment.
