Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Pennsylvania - Cincinnati Cyclones center Barret Ehgoetz will remember his 300th ECHL game, a 5-3 win at Johnstown on Friday night. Ehgoetz notched a pair of goals, including the game winner-a shorthanded effort inside the final two minutes of play. Brian O'Hanley added a goal and an assist for the winners.

The Cyclones have won nine of their last ten games away from U.S. Bank Arena since November 29 and had registered a pair of shutouts in the two previous games at Johnstown (2-0 on October 17 and 5-0 on January 2). Jeremy Smith stopped 26 shots for the triumph, his twelfth of the season. The Cyclones are now eleven games above .500 for the first time this season (24-13-1).

The first period was scoreless, as the Cyclones outshot Johnstown, 15-12.

The second period featured each team netting a pair of goals. Cincinnati grabbed the 1-0 lead at 3:16 of the frame when Jimmy Kilpatrick re-directed a shot past Johnstown goaltender Kris Mayotte for his second goal of the year. Brett Motherwell and Scott Reynolds had the assists on the score. Johnstown would score the next two goals to grab a 2-1 lead. Chanse Fitzpatrick's 17th score at 3:38 on the power play and Conner Shields' 15th at 6:37 gave the Chiefs their first lead over Cincinnati on home ice this season. Barret Ehgoetz would tie the scores up with a power play marker at 13:54. Brian O'Hanley had the assist on the score. Cincinnati again won the shots battle, 15-12.

The goal by Fitzpatrick was Johnstown's first against the Cyclones at the Cambria County War Memorial in four games-since March 28 of last season. That span covered 183:39 of time and works out to more than three complete games without a goal.

For the eighth time this season the Cyclones scored three goals in the third period to claim the 5-3 victory. O'Hanley's second goal of the campaign at 4:15 from Matt Pierce gave Cincinnati a 3-2 edge. Jim McKenzie's ninth marker on a breakaway at 17:15 knotted the scores at three each. Ehgoetz collected the game winning goal at 18:41 off a faceoff win with his second score of the night and 16th of the campaign. An empty net unassisted lamplighter from Max Lacroix with 19 seconds to go closed the scoring. Cincinnati again outshot the Chiefs, 12-5, in the period and 42-29 for the game.

The game was the home debut for Johnstown owner/interim coach Neil Smith. Smith took over for Jeff Flanagan on January 11 and lost his debut game at Trenton, 4-2, on Wednesday night.

The Chiefs have set their club record for longest winless streak at home in team history at nine games (0-7-2 at the Cambria County War Memorial since December 11). The Chiefs have won just twice in their last 18 games overall since December 1.

Cincinnati is 24-13-1, while Johnstown is 9-21-7. The Cyclones host the Toledo Walleye tomorrow night at U.S. Bank Arena at 7:30pm. It is Military Appreciation Night, with members of the armed forces with valid identification able to purchase tickets for seven dollars each.
