Wednesday, January 21 ECHL All-Star Game

West 6 @ East 7

The Eastern Conference scored four third period goals to win 7-6 over the Western Conference. Jason Jaffray, the Nailers lone representative for the Nailers on the Eastern Conference team, had one goal and two assists for three points. Jaffray assisted on the first goal of the game just 43 seconds into the game, a new ECHL All-Star record for fastest goal. The record breaking goal was scored by Randy Rowe of the Peoria Rivermen. Jaffray scored his goal and added another assist in the Eastern Conference third period comeback. Rowe scored two goals, including the game-winning goal, and had one assist and was voted as the game's MVP.

Friday, January 23

Wheeling 1 @ Trenton 3

The Trenton Titans took a 1-0 lead at 13:40 of the first period with a power play goal. Chris Pittman scored the goal with Scott Bertoli and Tyler Kindle assisting. The Nailers tied the game 1-1 at 2:45 of the second period. J.F. Dufour scored the goal with T.J. Reynolds assisting. The Titans reclaimed the lead with another power play goal at 13:53 of the second period. Bertoli scored the goal from Matt Zultek. The final goal of the game was an empty net goal by Jay Leach at 19:35 of the final period. Nick Boucher made 16 saves on 18 shots in the loss.

Saturday, January 24

Wheeling 7 @ Toledo 3

J.F. Dufour gave the Nailers a 1-0 lead at 6:08 of the first period on a goal assisted by Bogdan Rudenko and J.C. Ruid. Ruid extended the Nailers lead to 2-0 at 16:09. Dufour and Rudenko assisted on the Ruid goal. Toledo cut their deficit to 2-1 on a Chris Gignac goal at 16:42 of the first period. The Nailers took command of the game with five second period goals. Ruid scored his second goal of the game at 7:36 to make it 3-1. Brendon Hodge scored at 8:19 from Eddie Pershin and Dufour to make it 4-1. The Nailers lead increased to 6-1 on a pair of shorthanded goals by Mark Kosick on the same penalty kill. Both goals were assisted by Steve Crampton and Drew Fata. Rudenko scored the final goal of the game for the Nailers at 15:42 of the second period. Toledo added a pair of third period goals to end the scoring. Tyler MacKay made 39 saves on 42 shots for the win.

Wednesday, January 28

Wheeling @ Atlantic City 7:05p.m.

The Nailers are 1-1-0 against the Bullies this season, both games played in Wheeling. The Nailers and the Bullies will play five more times this season after this game.

Friday, January 30

Greensboro @ Wheeling 7:30p.m.

This will be the first and only meeting during the regular season between these teams. It will also be the third and final game outside the Northern Division for the Nailers during the regular season. All tickets for this game will be $5.00 courtesy of WTOV-9. It will also be Mascot Night with many area mascots in attendance at the game.

Saturday, January 31

Dayton @ Wheeling 7:30p.m.

The Nailers close the week against the Dayton Bombers at home. It will be the last visit of the regular season for Dayton to Wheeling. The Nailers will be giving away Pittsburgh Penguins Baseball Caps before this game to the fans.

Player notes:

Jason Jaffray had one goal and two assists as the lone representative in the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game, the East beat the West 7-6...Jaffray is fourth in the league in scoring with 54 points on 23 goals and 31 assists...J.F. Dufour is tied for fifth in scoring with 53 points on 19 goals and 34 assists...J.C. Ruid is tied for 12th in scoring with 45 points on 17 goals and 28 assists...Nick Boucher is eighth in the league with a 2.33 goals against average...Boucher is also tied for fifth with 18 wins.

Team notes:

The Nailers power play is ninth in the ECHL at 18.9%, their penalty kill is 17th at 82.8%...The Nailers are third in goals for per game with 3.64, 14th in goals against per game with 2.76...Wheeling is fourth in shots for per game with 35.02, second in shots against per game with 26.83...The Nailers have won eight consecutive home games, tied for the longest home winning streak of the season...The Nailers are 12-0-0 when leading after one period, 20-0-1

Nailers Player of the Week:

The Nailers Player of the Week is J.F. Dufour. Dufour had two goals and four assists for six points in two games last week. He scored the only goal for the Nailers on Friday and had one goal and four assists in a 7-3 win on Saturday. Dufour played at a +4 for the week.

Nailers Goaltender of the Week:

The Nailers Goaltender of the Week is Tyler MacKay. MacKay went 1-0-0 in his only game last week. It was his fifth win of the season and second win in two consecutive starts. He made 39 saves on 42 shots for the win.
