Dayton Bombers News Release
The Dayton Bombers, fresh off a 1-1 weekend that featured their first-ever Nutter Center sellout (10,057) on Friday, will take a step back in time for a special event at Hobart Arena in Troy this Wednesday, January 28, 2004 (7:00 p.m.). The contest will ignite a four-game week for the Bombers that also includes a three-game Northern Division road trip. Below is a look at the games ahead for the Dayton Bombers this week:
Wednesday, 1/28/2004 vs. Roanoke Express at Hobart Arena in Troy (7:00 p.m.)
The Dayton Bombers will provide a unique twist for this ECHL contest against the Express. Although it is a "home game" for the Bombers, it will be played at Hobart Arena in Troy. Bombers team owner, Tim Reilly, said "We are extremely excited to bring a pro hockey game back to Troy." Reilly continued, "We're hopeful the excitement generated from this game will widen our fan base. And, perhaps along the way even reintroduce some folks to the fun they associated with hockey from years ago." Bombers season ticket-holders will be provided with special tickets for the January 28th game. Seats will be comparable to their regular season seats. Game time remains at 7 p.m., and Hobart will open gates at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased by calling the Dayton Bombers office at (937) 775-4747 or Hobart Arena at (937) 339-5145. Tickets may not, however, be purchased through Ticket Master or online for this special event. General admission seating prices for all (except season ticket holders) are $10.00 for adults and $5 for kids. The group price for a size of 25 or more is $9.00 per ticket. The Bombers will be hosting the Express for the second time this season. The Express edged the Bombers 3-2 at the Nutter Center on Sunday, November 23 in the teams' lone meeting this season. The other two 2003-2004 tilts will be played at the Roanoke Civic Center Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, February 29.

RECAP OF LAST WEEK'S BOMBERS' ACTION:
January 23, 2004- Peoria 3 @ BOMBERS 1- The Dayton Bombers welcomed an appearance by NASCAR #8 sensation Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to their game against the Peoria Rivermen Friday night at the Ervin J. Nutter Center that resulted in the largest crowd in franchise history (10,057) and fourth highest in the ECHL (America's Premier AA Hockey League) this season. Earnhardt, Jr., NASCAR's #8, made a pit stop to raise money for the Children's Medical Center of Dayton and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Ohio. His appearance included a momentous introduction/puck drop, participation in an intermission promotion, as well as interaction with VIP guests and folks at the Children's Medical Center of Dayton and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Ohio. Fans also had the chance to check out Dale Jr's Car. The Rivermen prevailed on the strength of two third period goals by Tyler Rennette, one of which was into an empty net. Janne Jokila recorded his eighth goal of the season for the Bombers late in period number one, while Bret DeCecco scored the other Peoria goal.
January 24, 2004- Peoria 2 @ BOMBERS 4- Defenseman Sean Connolly scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the Dayton Bombers defeated the Peoria Rivermen 4-2 in front of 4,936 fans at the Ervin J. Nutter Center Saturday night. The Bombers, who snapped a three-game losing streak, rallied after falling behind 1-0 as a result of Peoria forward Randy Rowe's 25th goal of the season 3:21 into the first period. The Bombers, who outshot Peoria 44-27 in the game, struck twice in a 29-second span late in the second period to capture the lead for good. Janne Jokila's second goal in as many games and ninth of the season tied the game at one at 17:47, then Connolly scored his first of two tallies at 18:26 on a shot that caromed past goalie Mike Valley. Connolly's power play blast from just inside the blueline at 13:17 of the third period gave the Bombers a 3-1 cushion. After Greg Black's goal pulled Peoria to within one at 16:16, Olivier Proulx, who set up Jokila's conversion, recorded an empty net score with 36 seconds to play to seal the victory.
